Attack on Activists Investigating Illegal Immigrants in Karnataka Leads to FIR Against 100 Unknown Individuals
A violent attack on activists in Bengaluru raises concerns over illegal immigration and public safety, prompting police action against 100 unidentified assailants.

Bengaluru, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : In Bengaluru, police have filed a case against 100 unidentified individuals following an attack on a group of activists investigating illegal immigrants on October 28. The incident occurred in the Shikaripalaya area, where the activists were confronted while questioning suspected Bangladeshi nationals.
According to T. Nagendraappa, the Bengaluru district president of a Hindu organization, he received a tip-off about the presence of illegal immigrants in the area around 10 a.m. on the day of the incident. Later that afternoon, he and three fellow members—Amit, Pawan, and Santosh Kartal—went to the location to investigate.
Upon their arrival near a shed, they were confronted by local workers who questioned why they were allegedly harassing them by labeling them as Bangladeshis. Tensions escalated when the workers began throwing stones and shards of glass at the activists.
As Nagendraappa and his companions attempted to leave, they were pursued by approximately 100 individuals who allegedly assaulted them, kicking them in the head, chest, and back while threatening their lives. Nagendraappa has since called for legal action against those responsible for the attack.
The incident has drawn attention due to the ongoing concerns regarding illegal immigration in the region. However, the nationalities of the workers involved remain unclear, and the information that prompted Nagendraappa’s inquiry has not been independently verified.
The Hebbagodi police have registered the case under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) pertaining to intentional harm, unlawful assembly, and criminal intimidation. Further investigation will seek to clarify the circumstances surrounding the altercation and identify those involved.
This incident follows a recent reprimand from the Karnataka High Court directed at Bengaluru police regarding their handling of earlier complaints made by Nagendraappa about illegal immigrants in the Bellandur and Varthur areas. Instead of investigating his claims, police had filed counter-cases against him, leading to his arrest based on complaints from those he had reported.
Justice M. Nagaprasanna criticized the police for their hasty legal actions, describing them as a misuse of the legal process, and suggested that the counter-complaints appeared to be retaliatory in nature.
