Congress Lawmaker Critiques BJPs Loss in Nagpur, Calls for Fair Elections

Congress MLA Bhai Jagtap criticizes BJPs defeat in Nagpur, urging for future elections to be held via ballot to prove popularity.

Mumbai, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : Congress lawmaker Bhai Jagtap has directed sharp criticism at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following the recent results of the Maharashtra MLC elections. He stated that regardless of vote manipulation or financial influence, the public remains steadfastly with the Mahavikas Aghadi coalition.

Jagtap emphasized that the victory in Nagpur, a traditional stronghold for both the BJP and the RSS, is a clear message. “If you cannot maintain your own base, it sends a strong signal,” he remarked, highlighting the significance of the election outcome.

He further expressed that the intoxication of power would ultimately be dismantled by the people of Maharashtra and the nation. Jagtap argued that both the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister have failed to grasp the sentiments of the state, attributing their haste to the allure of authority. He questioned the Prime Minister’s lack of acknowledgment regarding the farmers’ plight, noting that 630 farmers had sacrificed their lives.

Jagtap challenged the BJP leaders, including Devendra Fadnavis, to accept the legitimacy of the ballot process. “If you believe in your popularity, then let’s conduct all future elections by ballot and prove it,” he urged, reinforcing his challenge.

Responding to comments made by Mallikarjun Kharge, Jagtap supported Kharge’s statements, asserting that the influence of fear and money is waning. He believes that the impoverished populace will favor the Congress and the INDIA alliance, a sentiment he claims has been validated by recent events.

In addressing concerns about electoral integrity, he noted that while intimidation and financial clout may have short-term effects, the public is becoming increasingly aware. He criticized the government for its negligence regarding issues like examination paper leaks, stating that students are exhausted by the current state of affairs.

Tension surrounding the elections continues, with calls for transparency and accountability growing louder.
