Delhi Capitals Appoint Chaminda Vaas as Fast Bowling Coach Ahead of IPL 2027

Delhi Capitals announce Chaminda Vaas as their new fast bowling coach, enhancing their coaching lineup for IPL 2027.

New Delhi, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : The Delhi Capitals have officially appointed Sri Lankan cricket legend Chaminda Vaas as their fast bowling coach. This announcement was made on Saturday via the franchise’s official social media account.

In preparation for the upcoming IPL 2027 season, the Capitals have revamped their coaching staff. Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has taken the helm as head coach, while former all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has been named as the batting coach. Vaas’s inclusion is expected to significantly strengthen the coaching team.

There are speculations that Amit Mishra, a former Indian leg-spinner and a player for Delhi, may be appointed as the spin bowling coach, although this has yet to be officially confirmed.

Chaminda Vaas is a prominent figure in cricket, recognized as one of the most successful fast bowlers in the sport’s history. Between 1994 and 2009, he played 111 Test matches, claiming 355 wickets, and took 400 wickets in 322 One Day Internationals. He also participated in six T20 matches, securing six wickets, and was part of the Sri Lankan team that won the ODI World Cup in 1996.

At 52, Vaas’s role with the Delhi Capitals is anticipated to bolster the team’s bowling unit. Young bowlers will have a unique opportunity to learn fast bowling techniques from him, enhancing their skills for future competitions.

Vaas has previously served as a coach for both the Sri Lankan and Irish cricket teams.
