New Delhi, August 16: On the eighth death anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna recipient Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra paid tribute at his memorial alongside party workers. Following this, he inaugurated the Atal Canteen in Anand Vihar, East Delhi.
Malhotra was accompanied by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, local MPs, ministers, senior leaders, and officials from the state to the mandal level.
After paying homage at Vajpayee’s memorial, Malhotra opened an Atal Canteen in Anand Vihar, stating that under the guidance of former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, 25 new Atal Canteens were inaugurated across Delhi on Sunday.
The Delhi BJP President expressed his honor in inaugurating the Atal Canteen located in front of the Anand Vihar bus stand.
Local MLA Om Prakash Sharma, Deputy Mayor Monica Pant, and other officials and party workers were present at the event.
On the occasion of Vajpayee’s death anniversary, all Atal Canteens served free meals.
Malhotra emphasized that in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment that no one in Delhi should sleep hungry, nutritious meals are being provided to those in need at the Atal Canteens for just 5 rupees.
He stated that the Atal Canteens are not merely a scheme for affordable meals but also symbolize the BJP government’s dedication to providing food with respect and dignity to the poor and needy.
He further mentioned that the central government’s aim is to ensure that no economically disadvantaged person is forced to beg for food and that every needy individual receives nutritious meals with dignity.
Malhotra noted that alongside these welfare initiatives launched by the Delhi government, the BJP is also accelerating efforts to fulfill other promises made to the people of Delhi during the assembly elections.
He added that the process to provide eligible women with 2,500 rupees per month under the Chief Minister’s Women Empowerment Scheme has already begun.
Additionally, the plan to provide free LPG cylinders to eligible families during Holi and Diwali is one of the Delhi government’s key welfare commitments.
