New Delhi, August 6: Ahead of the Delhi Assembly’s monsoon session, Speaker Vijender Gupta conducted a review of security and logistics arrangements to ensure the proceedings are safe and orderly.
During a high-level security review meeting, attended by Police Special Commissioner (Law and Order) Devesh Srivastava, it was revealed that approximately 130 security personnel, including CRPF soldiers, will be deployed for robust, multi-layered security during the session.
The Delhi Police also conducted a mock drill within the assembly premises to assess operational readiness, emergency response capabilities, and preparedness for any unforeseen situations.
Senior police officials, along with representatives from the CRPF, Delhi Fire Service, Bomb Disposal Squad, Detective Unit, Special Staff, local police, ambulance services, and officials from the Delhi Assembly Secretariat participated in the meeting.
It was decided that ‘view cutters’ will be installed around the Delhi Assembly complex to enhance security and prevent unauthorized access. Additionally, an officer of the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police will be permanently stationed at the assembly.
To ensure continuous monitoring, improve coordination among security agencies, and facilitate swift responses to any security-related emergencies, a dedicated office for Delhi Police personnel will be established inside the assembly complex.
An official stated that security measures have been significantly strengthened ahead of the monsoon session. Hydraulic road blockers are being installed at all entry gates, access control methods are being upgraded, and a more effective ground-level security system is being implemented.
To ensure immediate action in emergencies, a CRPF quick response team has already been deployed. Under the revised access protocols, entry to the assembly complex will be permitted only through Gate Number 1, while other gates will remain closed to control movement and enhance external security.
Previously, the Assembly’s Business Advisory Committee decided that three bills related to public service delivery timelines, the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board, and bed-and-breakfast establishments will be presented during the sixth session of the eighth assembly, scheduled from August 7 to 11.
Additionally, two reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India and a notification related to the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission will also be introduced in the house during the session.
