Cuba Condemns U.S. Military Threats as Deplorable and Hypocritical

Havana, May 6: Cuba’s Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez has criticized the United States for threatening military action to “liberate” the country from over six decades of economic, commercial, and financial sanctions. He described this stance as “deplorable and hypocritical.”

Rodriguez stated on X, “The U.S. government continues to signal military action against Cuba, claiming that ‘the country is ruined… and liberating it would be an honor.'”

He emphasized, “The hypocritical aspect is that the U.S. has attempted to destroy the nation through decades of economic warfare,” adding that the current U.S. administration has intensified this blockade with “genocidal” executive orders in recent months.

He remarked, “Economic and energy blockades, along with new external pressure measures, threats of military attacks, and actual invasions are all international crimes.”

According to Xinhua News Agency, during a recent event in Palm Beach, Florida, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that after “completing” the conflict with Iran in the Middle East, the U.S. would “almost immediately” take control of Cuba.

He threatened that upon returning from that region, the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier would be stationed “about 100 yards” off Cuba’s coast.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel appealed to the international community and the American public to reject what he termed a criminal act serving the interests of “a small but wealthy and influential group.”

Díaz-Canel asserted on X, “No aggressor, no matter how powerful, will find surrender in Cuba. They will face a committed people ready to defend sovereignty and freedom on every inch of our land.”
