
Visakhapatnam: New Zealand posted a challenging total of 215 runs for seven wickets against India in the fourth T20 match, thanks to a century partnership between Devon Conway and Tim Seifert. India, having already secured an unassailable lead by winning the first three matches, aim to maintain their winning streak by clinching this game as well.
The match at ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium saw Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav win the toss and opt to field first, inviting New Zealand to bat.
Opening batsmen Conway and Seifert provided New Zealand with a solid start, building a 100-run partnership in just 8.2 overs. Conway scored 44 runs off 23 balls, including three sixes and four fours before getting out.
Seifert took charge thereafter, contributing 62 runs from 36 balls with three sixes and seven fours. Alongside Glenn Phillips, he added 23 runs for the third wicket. By the time Phillips was dismissed after scoring 24 runs off 16 balls, New Zealand had reached 126 runs for three wickets in 12.2 overs.
Following Phillips’ wicket, New Zealand experienced a fall of wickets but Darryl Mitchell steadied the innings with an unbeaten 39 runs off 18 balls, hitting three sixes and two fours to help his team reach a strong total.
India’s bowling efforts were led by Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav, each claiming two wickets. Jasprit Bumrah and Ravi Bishnoi took one wicket apiece.
The Indian side, led by Suryakumar Yadav, featured Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Rinku Singh, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Harshit Rana, and Jasprit Bumrah on the field.
New Zealand’s playing XI included Devon Conway, Tim Seifert (wicketkeeper), Rachin Ravindra, Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, Darryl Mitchell, Mitchell Santner (captain), Jakari Falk, Matt Henry, Ish Sodhi, and Jacob Duffy.
Earlier, after losing the ODI series 1-2, India began the T20 series strongly by winning the first match by 48 runs and followed it up with victories by seven and eight wickets in the subsequent games.
