Surat, August 1: The District Magistrate of Surat, Tejas Parmar, has reported that the district is currently experiencing ongoing rainfall. He assured the public that the administration is prepared to handle any situation, and the current conditions are under control, so there is no need for panic.
In an interview on Saturday, he mentioned that the rainfall has persisted over the last 24 hours, although the intensity has slowed down. Rainfall resumed again from 10 AM on Saturday. A red alert has been issued for the next three hours, considering the current weather conditions. The focus will be on how the weather develops in the coming days.
According to the District Magistrate, heavy rainfall continues in several parts of Surat. Evacuations have begun for residents near the Kream River. Additionally, a team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has been dispatched for extra assistance. The administration is fully engaged in controlling the situation and ensuring that no one faces difficulties.
Residents from villages around Mangrol Taluka are also being relocated. If necessary, the administration will extend these facilities. Although Ambika Taluka experienced the heaviest rainfall, the situation there remains normal, and the water level of the Ambika River is above the danger mark. The administration’s teams will be deployed as needed to ensure public safety.
The District Magistrate stated that a red alert has been issued due to the unpredictable weather. There is a strong possibility of more rainfall in the coming days, and preparations are in place to manage any challenges that arise. Overall, the priority is to ensure that the public does not encounter any issues.
