Lucknow, July 15: Rajendra Pal Gautam, in charge of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC), has raised concerns regarding the ongoing SIT investigation into the Ram Temple donation case and the Gyanvapi dispute. He expressed skepticism about the impartiality of the SIT, stating he has little hope for a fair outcome.
In an interview with a news agency regarding the potential final report on the theft of donations related to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Gautam remarked, “The members of the SIT were appointed by the same government that established the temple trust and facilitated the temple’s construction. Therefore, it is natural to question the integrity of this investigation.”
The Congress leader alleged, “This case is linked to political organizations, and it is difficult to expect a fair investigation from officials associated with them. When those who have exploited religion and the name of Lord Ram for political gain are implicated in a case of donation theft, the public rightfully expects a transparent inquiry.”
Responding to the lack of mediation in the Gyanvapi dispute, Gautam emphasized, “The country and the Constitution must be prioritized above all else.” He referenced Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s speech in the Constituent Assembly, where Ambedkar warned against placing religion above the nation and cautioned against the worship of individuals.
Gautam noted that the concerns mentioned by Ambedkar are still relevant today. He stressed the importance of maintaining equality and mutual respect among all religions and communities in line with the spirit of the Constitution.
He stated, “For a long time, Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians in India have coexisted in brotherhood. However, since religion has increasingly been used for political purposes, disputes and divisions in society have grown. It is inappropriate for people to view each other through a lens of hatred instead of love and respect.”
