New Delhi, June 8: The ‘India’ bloc meeting held in Delhi saw key leaders from Congress, TMC, and other parties in attendance. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge welcomed all leaders and launched a critique against the central government.
Kharge stated, “I welcome all leaders to this meeting of the ‘India’ group, which was formed nearly three years ago. I do not wish to speak at length, as you are all well aware of the issues we face. On April 17, we demonstrated our unity decisively in the Lok Sabha when we collectively defeated the central government’s malicious bills on delimitation.”
He emphasized the need to strengthen this spirit and move forward to address the political, economic, social, and foreign policy challenges posed by the central government’s misgovernance. “Due to the SIR, millions are being deprived of their voting rights. The assault on the Constitution continues. Investigative agencies are being misused as tools to harass and intimidate political opponents,” Kharge added.
Kharge pointed out the discrimination against non-BJP governments, the rising prices of essential goods, and the negative economic environment. He noted that the pace of new investments necessary for job creation is not matching expectations. “Private monopolies are increasing in several sectors, and the future of MSMEs is in serious jeopardy. The complete mismanagement of the examination system is betraying the hopes and aspirations of millions of our youth. Atrocities against marginalized sections of society persist, especially in BJP-ruled states. Our foreign policy has been compromised, and we have failed to uphold the traditional values that India has long supported,” he stated.
Kharge urged leaders from each party to share their thoughts, after which they could collectively discuss the steps to be taken. “We will all meet with the media together,” he concluded.
