Gurugram, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : Congress MP Pawan Khera has sharply criticized the Haryana government in light of a recent hit-and-run incident in Gurugram. He raised concerns about the state of security in the National Capital Region (NCR), questioning, “If this is the security situation around Delhi, then where is the safety?”
In an interview held in New Delhi, Khera emphasized that the incident occurred during the BRICS summit, a time when police forces were heavily deployed on the streets for security. He expressed alarm over the implications of such an event happening in close proximity to the national capital.
Khera also responded to the BJP’s recent victories in the Rajasthan local body elections, asserting that if the BJP is only slightly ahead of Congress in urban areas, their position in rural regions must be dire. He pointed to specific cities like Pali, Ajmer, Jodhpur, and Kota as evidence of the BJP’s weakening grip, noting that an independent candidate won in Bharatpur while the BJP failed to secure a victory. He highlighted that Congress has a stronger voter base in Jaipur despite the BJP’s redistricting efforts, which have combined several of Congress’s strongholds into wards with around 3,000 voters each.
On the topic of inflation, Khera lamented that the rising costs are severely impacting the public, stating that the government cannot conceal this reality behind GDP statistics.
Furthermore, he questioned the government’s stance on recent reports regarding China’s military presence along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) following the BRICS summit. Khera demanded to know whether the government raised concerns about China’s past support for Pakistan during the summit. He insisted that the priority should be the security of the nation’s borders rather than seeking praise from China.
