Mumbai, July 11: Congress leader Hussain Dalwai has voiced his opinions on various issues concerning Maharashtra politics, Hindutva, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent trip to New Zealand. He raised questions about Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and PM Modi himself.
Dalwai responded to Shinde’s statement questioning why an investigation into the alleged irregularities in donations at the Siddhivinayak Temple was not conducted during Uddhav Thackeray’s tenure as Chief Minister. He acknowledged that Shinde raised a valid point but suggested that he should also be held accountable.
“Why did Eknath Shinde not take action when he was part of the government? His views seem to have changed after joining the NDA. If there were any irregularities at Siddhivinayak Temple, it was his government’s responsibility to investigate. He did nothing while in office, so why is he bringing this issue up now?” Dalwai remarked.
Dalwai also commented on Yogi Adityanath’s statement regarding the offering of prayers at Hanumangarhi, questioning whether any other government could conduct Hanuman Chalisa recitations at Jama Masjid. He stated, “In my opinion, praying where Hindus have faith is completely inappropriate.”
Regarding the recent cancellation of membership for four municipal corporators in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Dalwai emphasized the need to understand why such situations arise. “When someone is assigned a task, why isn’t a thorough investigation conducted beforehand?” he asked.
On PM Modi’s trip to New Zealand and the extensive trade agreement established between India and New Zealand, Dalwai noted that it was the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to New Zealand in nearly 40 years. During this visit, Modi described the trade agreement as a significant step for both nations.
In a sarcastic remark, Dalwai added, “I believe he is traveling the world because he won’t be Prime Minister after 2029.”
