Bhopal, July 30: The Congress party has formed a special committee to study tribal issues across Madhya Pradesh. Opposition leader Umang Singhar announced that this committee will conduct a statewide campaign to gather ground-level information before submitting its report to the BJP government.
The ‘Madhya Pradesh Tribal Rights, Protection, and Empowerment Committee,’ established by the All India Congress Committee (AICC), held its first meeting at the state Congress headquarters on Thursday.
Members discussed issues related to the constitutional rights of the tribal community, including water, forests, land, education, healthcare, employment, livelihood, and overall development.
Singhar emphasized that Congress will conduct phased field studies and outreach programs in tribal-dominated areas before finalizing its recommendations. He reiterated the party’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and dignity of tribal communities and vowed to raise their concerns strongly before the government.
According to the party, the committee has decided to create a systematic roadmap for the protection and empowerment of tribal people, which includes engaging in discussions across various districts to collect grassroots information.
The meeting included committee members Vikrant Bhuria, Bala Bachchan, Omkar Singh Markam, Fundelal Marko, Jhuma Solanki, Sanjay Uike, Sunil Uike, and Ashok Marskole.
Congress has been consistently attacking the BJP government over issues related to tribal welfare, forest rights, and land ownership. This initiative by the committee is expected to strengthen the party’s political campaign on these matters in Madhya Pradesh.
