Chinese Vice Premier Visits Turkmenistan to Launch Gas Project

Beijing, April 18: Chinese Vice Premier and special representative of President Xi Jinping, Ting Shuexiang, visited Turkmenistan from April 15 to 17. During his trip, he participated in the inauguration ceremony for the construction of the fourth phase of the Galkynysh gas field project. He also met with Turkmenistan’s National Leader Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov and President Serdar Berdymukhamedov, and chaired the seventh meeting of the cooperation committee between the two nations alongside Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov.

Ting Shuexiang and Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov jointly attended the inauguration ceremony for the Galkynysh gas field project. Ting expressed that both leaders have high hopes for the project, which aligns with the aspirations of both nations’ people. He emphasized the importance of maintaining collaborative efforts to build a friendly project based on mutual success.

In meetings with Turkmenistan’s leaders, Ting noted that under the strategic guidance of both nations’ leaders, the China-Turkmenistan relationship has seen rapid and stable development. He highlighted that natural gas cooperation serves as the foundation of bilateral relations, bringing tangible benefits to the people of both countries.

Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov stated that Turkmenistan is ready to enhance political trust with China and effectively implement the fourth phase of the Galkynysh gas project while expanding new areas of cooperation.

Serdar Berdymukhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan places great importance on the comprehensive strategic partnership with China and aims to strengthen practical cooperation across various sectors, prioritizing natural gas.
