Beijing, August 7: In the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan, China’s top leader showcased remarkable diplomacy. President Xi Jinping engaged in continuous meetings with foreign leaders, igniting new hope for building a community with a shared future for mankind. The four key features of this year’s diplomatic strategy include dialogue among major nations, connections with neighboring countries, cooperation with “Global South” nations, and the presentation of China’s proposals to the world.
On May 14, President Xi Jinping met with U.S. President Donald Trump in the capital, Beijing. The two leaders agreed to establish a constructive strategic relationship between China and the United States. This agreement provided strategic direction for China-U.S. relations over the next three years and beyond. Frequent close contacts have strengthened mutual understanding and trust between the two leaders.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the strategic partnership between China and Russia, as well as the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Good Neighborly Friendship and Cooperation Treaty. President Xi Jinping has established strategic contacts with Russian President Vladimir Putin through various means.
Major countries must set an example to improve the world. How these nations collaborate is crucial for the future of humanity. In response to a complex international situation, Xi Jinping has enhanced strategic communication among leaders of major countries, promoting the establishment of peaceful, stable, and balanced relations.
Diplomacy with neighboring countries holds a special place in China’s foreign strategy. President Xi Jinping chose the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) for his first state visit this year. South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol became the first foreign head of state to visit China this year. Subsequently, leaders from over ten neighboring countries, including Vietnam, Laos, and Tajikistan, made state visits to China, furthering the construction of a community with a shared future.
This year, countries from the “Global South” and developing nations also visited China. Xi Jinping held cordial meetings with them, fostering new hope for cooperation and common development among “Global South” nations.
The unstable global situation has weakened the foundation for peaceful development among various countries. Therefore, Xi Jinping proposed a four-point suggestion to maintain peace and stability in the Middle East. Regarding the Ukraine crisis, he advocated for resolving disputes through dialogue. Following the presentation of global governance initiatives, nearly 160 countries and international organizations expressed their support.
As Xi Jinping stated, China always stands on the right side of history and will work with various countries to enhance the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.
