China Warns Military Action Won’t Resolve Middle East Crisis

Beijing, January 29: China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, stated at the Security Council’s open debate on the Middle East issue on January 28 that no problem can be solved through the use of force.

Fu Cong warned that any military action could push the Middle East region into a deeper crisis.

He noted that the current environment in the Middle East remains conflict-ridden with rising tensions. Fu Cong emphasized that Iran is a sovereign nation whose internal affairs should be decided by its own people. China supports Iran’s stability, sovereignty, security, and regional integrity.

Further, he expressed hope that all relevant parties, including the United States, will heed the appeals of the international community and regional countries, making sincere efforts to foster peace and stability in the Middle East instead of taking actions that complicate the situation.

Fu Cong also said that China respects the independent choices of the people in the Middle East, values the legitimate concerns of regional nations, and is prepared to play a constructive role in promoting long-term peace and stability in the region in cooperation with the international community.
