China-Singapore Dialogue Focuses on AI Collaboration

Beijing, March 25: On March 23, a China-Singapore dialogue was held in Singapore. Organized by the Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF), the event focused on the theme “Empowering Singapore’s Local Businesses through a New Chapter in China’s Development.” Approximately 200 participants attended, discussing potential collaborations in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI).

In his address, the Chinese Ambassador to Singapore, Chao Chongming, stated that as China continues to promote the development of a smart economy, the scope for cooperation between Chinese and Singaporean enterprises is steadily increasing. He noted that collaboration in the field of AI has already commenced between the two nations.

Citing examples of technological applications, he highlighted that the “DeepSeek” model launched by Chinese companies has attracted numerous users in Singapore. Additionally, Singapore’s national-level large language model, “C-Lion,” has partnered with Alibaba Cloud. This backdrop indicates that new opportunities for collaboration are continually emerging between the enterprises of both countries.

Meanwhile, Li Hui Ling, chair of the Chinese Language Media Group at Singapore Press Holdings, mentioned that the Singapore government has prioritized AI development in its budget for the fiscal year 2026. Furthermore, Singapore’s manufacturing sector is generally focused on identifying ways to participate in China’s intelligent development process.

On the other hand, SMF President Lennon Tan remarked that China’s economic development model is undergoing profound changes, creating new opportunities for collaboration in areas such as AI, smart manufacturing, and green technology between Singapore and China.
