Markven Mullin Stands Firm with DHS Employees Amid Funding Crisis

Washington, March 25: Amid ongoing political deadlock over funding in the United States, new Homeland Security Secretary Markven Mullin has openly supported the department’s employees. He stated that those working without pay for 30 days have demonstrated their commitment, and he will stand with them every day of the year.

Mullin made these remarks during his swearing-in ceremony in the Oval Office, where he took the oath of office in front of Attorney General Pam Bondi. He assumed this role during a time of political strife in Congress regarding funding.

Discussing his meetings with DHS employees, Mullin said, “I had the opportunity to meet many DHS staff members. These individuals have been working without pay for the last 30 days.” He emphasized that this reflects their deep dedication to national security, adding, “If you want to understand their commitment, look at how they are engaged in securing the nation without pay. This is purely due to politics.”

He reassured the employees, saying, “If you are fighting for 365 days, then know that I am also standing with you for 365 days.”

On his work ethic, Mullin asserted, “No one will work harder than me, and I will not let anyone get ahead of me. The President has entrusted me with this responsibility, and failure is not an option.”

Mullin also clarified that his work would remain completely non-political. He stated, “I don’t care if your state is red or blue. My job is to ensure equal security for every American.”

During this event, President Donald Trump praised Mullin, calling him a “great patriot” and expressing confidence that he would lead the department with strength and fairness.

Trump also targeted Democrats during his remarks, accusing them of causing the DHS shutdown by blocking funding in Congress. He linked this controversy to immigration policy, claiming that Democrats are trying to protect “illegal immigrant criminals and gang members.”

The President asserted that his administration will continue its campaign to deport individuals with criminal records. He stated, “Any illegal immigrant with a criminal record should be deported immediately.”

He claimed that under his administration, the U.S. has established the safest border in history and recorded the largest decline in illegal immigration to date.

It is noteworthy that the DHS, created after the 9/11 attacks, is responsible for critical areas such as border security, immigration, transportation security, and disaster management. Markven Mullin, a close ally of Trump and a proponent of strict immigration policies, has served in Congress for over a decade.
