China Records 298 Million Tickets Sold During Spring Festival Travel Rush

Beijing, February 21: According to the China State Railway Group, an estimated 15 million passengers will be transported by the national railway system on February 20. To accommodate this surge, 1,469 additional passenger trains have been scheduled. On February 19, the railway system served approximately 13.5 million passengers, ensuring that transportation was safe, smooth, and orderly. By 8 AM on February 20, a total of 298 million tickets had been sold on platform 12306 during the Spring Festival travel rush.

Railway departments across the country are implementing various measures to manage the heavy influx of travelers. They are enhancing road-rail coordination and safety assurances to make travel more convenient, beneficial, and enjoyable, thereby improving the overall travel experience for passengers.

The Lanzhou Railway Bureau Group of the China State Railway has established a medical service center at the Lanzhou West Railway Station, in collaboration with the provincial maternal and child health hospital, to provide professional medical care for mothers, infants, and children.

Additionally, the Yancheng Railway Station, operated by the China State Railway Group’s Chinan Railway Bureau Group, has opened a green channel and a special waiting area for passengers purchasing New Year flowers, along with security checks and guidance services.

The Chengdu Group of the China State Railway has conducted a comprehensive inspection of power supply facilities along major railway lines, including the Shanghai-Kunming high-speed railway, in partnership with the Guiyang Power Supply Bureau of China Southern Power Grid, to enhance the safety of electricity usage for passengers.

Furthermore, the Urumqi Bureau Group of the China State Railway has set up a ski equipment storage area at Altai Station and is providing shuttle guides to facilitate skiing trips for passengers.
