Chief Minister Dhami Extends Greetings on International Womens Day

Dehradun, March 8: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has extended his best wishes to the people of the state, particularly to women, on the occasion of International Women’s Day. He emphasized that the women of Uttarakhand have always been symbols of hard work, sacrifice, and dedication. Their significant role in the state’s development and social structure has been invaluable.

The Chief Minister stated that the state government is continuously working towards the respect, safety, and empowerment of women. He noted that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, both the central and state governments have launched numerous welfare schemes for women. Dhami highlighted the crucial contributions of women in the state-building movement and the subsequent development of Uttarakhand. Empowering women and ensuring their holistic development remain top priorities for the state government.

He mentioned that through 68,000 self-help groups, 500,000 women are being economically empowered, alongside the Lakhpati Didi scheme, which has already transformed over 200,000 women into lakhpatis. The state is also providing 30% reservation for women in government jobs and 33% in cooperative societies.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code, fulfilling a promise made to the people of the state. This law is also linked to women’s dignity. He added that skill development initiatives are strengthening the economic status of women. Dhami expressed his wishes for the happiness, prosperity, and bright future of all women in the state, believing that with their support and participation, Uttarakhand will achieve new heights of development and progress.

It is noteworthy that International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on March 8. This day symbolizes the ongoing struggles and determination of millions of women advocating for their dignity, equality, and rights. Many countries around the world honor women’s achievements on this day.
