Mumbai, August 6: Renowned author Chetan Bhagat was seen following in the footsteps of actor Anupam Kher on Thursday. Known for captivating audiences with stories like “2 States” and “Half Girlfriend,” Bhagat joined the trending wave by mimicking Kher’s recent video.
Bhagat shared a video on Instagram featuring himself and his friends from IIT Delhi, creating a reel to the song “Mere Mehboob Qayamat Hogi.” They acted in a manner similar to content creator Mr. Faizu, who had previously gone viral with a similar video alongside his friends.
In his post, Bhagat humorously noted, “We may not have Anupam Kher’s acting skills, but we are old IIT Delhi buddies ready to embarrass ourselves together. They say you are as old as the trend you are willing to embarrass yourself for. Why should Gen Z have all the fun?”
Bhagat’s video caught the attention of Anupam Kher, although Kher did not comment on the post. The trend of “Mere Mehboob Qayamat Hogi” is currently sweeping social media, having been popularized recently by celebrity chef Ranveer Brar and comedian Zakir Khan, among others.
This trend is making headlines again after its initial rise during the pandemic, when content creator Mr. Faizu, also known as Faizal Sheikh, created a reel with his friends that garnered significant attention. The video became so popular that it turned Faizu into a star.
During the pandemic, many people created reels to this music, and it resurfaced in discussions when influencers made new reels during the CJP protests, leading to its viral resurgence.
