Chef Ranveer Brar Discusses Managing Pressure in the Culinary World

Celebrity chef Ranveer Brar shares insights on handling pressure in the kitchen and the importance of managing expectations.

Mumbai, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : Celebrity chef and actor Ranveer Brar is currently in the spotlight for his quiz show “Yes Chef.” With years of experience in the culinary world, he understands the necessity of staying calm under pressure.

Brar explains that his kitchen experiences have taught him valuable lessons in managing stress. He believes that recognizing what is beyond one’s control is key to handling pressure effectively.

When asked about the commonality of pressure in a chef’s life, Brar remarked, “As chefs, we become accustomed to pressure. Our environment is like a pressure cooker.” He recounted a moment from “The Traitors,” where people questioned his calm demeanor despite the emotional chaos around him.

In a bustling kitchen, with around 600 cooks working simultaneously, Brar emphasized the importance of remaining composed. “If I start running around like everyone else, the work won’t get done properly,” he noted. His experiences have reinforced the idea that staying calm in challenging situations is crucial.

He further shared that dealing with pressure is partly about experience and partly about understanding that not everything is within one’s control. “When a person stops trying to control everything, the pressure begins to lessen,” he explained.

Brar also reflected on a lesson from his mentor, who taught him that cooking is fundamentally about managing fire, with humans merely assisting. He cautioned against inflating one’s self-importance, as it can lead to unnecessary pressure.

He pointed out that the greatest pressure often comes from our own expectations. “When we inflate our self-image, the pressure increases. Keeping a humble mindset can alleviate stress,” he advised.

Brar concluded that sometimes it is our own expectations that cause more stress than challenging circumstances. By recognizing our limits and accepting situations, we can navigate challenges more easily.
