New Delhi, August 15: Central Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has responded to the absence of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge at the Independence Day ceremony held at the Red Fort.
Speaking to reporters, Shekhawat stated, “I am not aware of the reasons for their absence.” He emphasized the significance of attending such a monumental event, saying, “Attending the Independence Day ceremony at the Red Fort is a matter of personal commitment and dignity. It reflects your faith in democratic values, especially as the nation celebrates 80 years of democracy.”
Shekhawat expressed joy over the country commemorating the 80th anniversary of its hard-won freedom, highlighting the importance of the occasion. He noted, “Today is a moment of great happiness as we celebrate our freedom, which has come at the cost of countless sacrifices. It is even more significant as we also mark the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram,’ the song that united the nation during the struggle for independence.”
He also mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to build a ‘developed India‘ by the centenary of independence, stating, “We are entering the fifth year of this important journey. PM Modi has urged us to empower the nation through seven different verticals, aiming for a self-reliant and strong India.”
Wishing everyone well, Shekhawat encouraged dedication to national development, saying, “Let us commit ourselves to the progress of our country. I extend my best wishes to all.”
Regarding PM Modi’s announcements aimed at empowering youth and women, Shekhawat remarked, “The Prime Minister has always prioritized the youth, farmers, mothers, and the underprivileged. As the country progresses under his guidance, new initiatives have been introduced to further empower these groups. He has also called upon all parties to support legislative measures that enhance the role of women in governance.”
