New Delhi, August 15: A new chapter in history was written today at the Red Fort in Delhi during the celebration of the 80th Independence Day. The grand event commemorated the 150-year legacy of the national song ‘Vande Mataram.’
A large formation of ‘Vande Mataram’ was created on Gyan Path, featuring the participation of 2,500 boys and girls, including cadets from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, as well as volunteers from ‘Mera Bharat.’ Special visual barriers were also set up on Gyan Path to showcase the theme ‘Developed India @2047.’
For the first time, the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ was formally sung at the Red Fort, marking the celebration of its long-standing 150-year heritage.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the 80th Independence Day celebrations from the Red Fort. He was welcomed by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defense Sanjay Seth, and Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh upon his arrival at the fort.
Following this, the Defense Secretary introduced Prime Minister Modi to Lieutenant General Rajesh Sethi, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Delhi area. The GOC then escorted the Prime Minister to the saluting platform, where a joint contingent of the three armed forces and Delhi Police presented a ‘General Salute.’ The Prime Minister also inspected the ‘Guard of Honor.’
Captain Sonia Singh Chauhan assisted Prime Minister Modi in hoisting the national flag. Alongside the flag-raising, a 21-gun salute was rendered by the brave gunners of the 1721 Field Battery (Ceremonial). Major Pawan Singh Shekhawat commanded this ceremonial battery, equipped with indigenous 105 mm light field guns, while Naib Subedar Anutosh Sarkar served as the Gun Position Officer.
