Celebrations Turn Chaotic in Dewas as Police Officer Injured During Fireworks

Dewas, March 9: The nation erupted in celebration as Team India clinched the World Championship title. In Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, crowds gathered at Saiyaji Gate to commemorate the Indian team’s victory. However, the festivities took a turn when fireworks were set off, resulting in injuries to a police officer.

The injured officer, Suhail Kumar from Ujjain, recounted the incident, stating that a firecracker exploded near him, causing injuries to his face and nose. He was unaware of who took him to the hospital. Another officer, Ashish, present at the hospital, confirmed that a bomb was thrown from behind, injuring Kumar on one side of his head.

The celebration of Team India’s victory resonated across the country. President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and several central ministers extended their congratulations. President Murmu praised the team for achieving historic heights by winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, highlighting India’s unique status as the only nation to win the cup three times and the only team to win it consecutively.

Prime Minister Modi took to social media platform X to express his joy, stating, “Champions! Congratulations to the Indian team on winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup! This remarkable victory showcases incredible skills, determination, and teamwork. They displayed immense courage throughout the tournament, filling every Indian heart with pride and joy. Well done, Team India!”

Team India secured the T20 World Cup 2026 title by defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final match held at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium. India became the first country to win the T20 World Cup on home soil, successfully defending a massive target of 256 runs as New Zealand was bowled out for 159 runs in just 19 overs.
