
New Delhi, March 13: Union Minister Jitendra Singh has praised the government’s recent efforts in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly after the completion of safety and passenger convenience projects on National Highway-44. He emphasized that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, development activities in Jammu and Kashmir have gained high priority, resulting in significant advancements across various sectors.
In response to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s post, Singh took to the social media platform ‘X’ to share insights. He noted that projects costing approximately ₹171.25 crore include improvements at accident-prone spots in the Udhampur district, as well as enhancements in Samba, Jhajjar Kotli, Qazigund, and Marhama. These initiatives are expected to greatly improve road safety, traffic flow, and passenger convenience.
Singh further stated, “Such targeted interventions at accident-prone sections will prove to be a milestone in ensuring safe highways and smooth connectivity for the people of this region.”
Additionally, Singh expressed gratitude to Nitin Gadkari for reinforcing road safety and passenger facilities along National Highway-44 in Jammu and Kashmir.
On Friday, Gadkari announced that significant work related to safety and passenger amenities on National Highway-44 has been completed at a total project cost of ₹171.25 crore. These initiatives include improvements at Sidco Chowk and accident-prone areas in the Gole Mela–Sangur section, the construction of service roads in Samba, and the development of modern wayside amenities in Jhajjar Kotli, Qazigund, and Marhama.
He explained that these locations had been identified as accident-prone areas and high-traffic conflict points. The improvements made have enhanced traffic flow, made turns safer, and improved road conditions, leading to better safety and reduced traffic congestion.
Gadkari also mentioned that the wayside facilities developed along this route include rest areas, parking facilities, food courts, and sanitation services for travelers, tourists, and truck drivers using this vital road.
The Union Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening highway infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership, aiming to boost connectivity, economic growth, and tourism.
