Celebrating the Chinese New Year in Tangier, Morocco

Tangier, February 10: The city of Tangier in northern Morocco hosted the “Happy Chinese New Year Chinese Festival.” The event showcased intangible cultural heritage skills, traditional opera, unique acrobatics, and delicious culinary experiences, bringing a vibrant and festive atmosphere to this port city located at the confluence of the Mediterranean and Atlantic Oceans.

For the Spring Festival Gala of the Year of the Horse, a promotional video prepared by China Media Group (CMG) was shown continuously for the first time at the festival. This video creatively blends traditional New Year symbols with modern visual expressions, vividly presenting the cultural meanings of the Chinese New Year—reunion, peace, and renewal—allowing Moroccans to experience the festive atmosphere of the Chinese New Year more directly.

Notably, in recent years, the cultural exchange between China and Morocco has been steadily increasing. The Chinese Spring Festival is becoming an important medium for Moroccans to understand Chinese culture. Through activities like festivals and cultural performances, China is entering the lives of locals in more vibrant and accessible ways, continuously revitalizing cultural exchange.
