Patna, February 19: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is ramping up its probe into the suspicious death of a NEET aspirant in Patna.

On Thursday, a five-member CBI team visited Jehanabad for the third time as part of their investigation. This time, they went directly to the village of the student’s uncle, located in the Makhdumpur police station area.

Family members were interrogated for several hours. Previously, on February 17, the CBI team had visited the same village and conducted detailed questioning of the student’s parents, brother, sister-in-law, grandmother, and aunt.

During that visit, the brother’s mobile phone was confiscated. Investigators later discovered that the phone had been sent for repairs to a shop in Makhdumpur. When the team first arrived at the shop, it was closed. Eventually, the mobile phone was recovered from a nearby betel shop.

Sources indicate that forensic analysis of the phone could yield crucial evidence in the case. The CBI had previously summoned the student’s uncle for questioning in Patna. When he failed to appear, the investigation team opted to visit his village for inquiries.

On February 15, a 20-member CBI team, including senior officials of the IG and SP ranks, also visited the village. After extensive questioning, they reportedly seized important documents and materials related to the case.

The situation took a disturbing turn on the night of February 14 when a threatening note was thrown at the student’s home, threatening to kill the entire family. Two days later, another threatening note was found, this time targeting the student’s brother directly.

Following these threats, the investigation has expanded from the girls’ hostel in Patna to the student’s ancestral village and recently to her uncle’s home. With repeated field inspections, the seizure of electronic evidence, and intimidation of family members, the case has entered a highly sensitive phase.

Sources suggest that new and significant facts may emerge in the coming days, potentially altering the direction of the investigation.
