New Delhi, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested three individuals, including a senior secretariat assistant from the Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD), in connection with a bribery case. The suspects were allegedly caught red-handed during a transaction involving ₹15 lakh on September 16.
According to the CBI, a case was registered against an inspector linked to the MCD’s advertising department and other individuals. The agency claims that certain officials and private entities were demanding and collecting bribes in exchange for allowing the installation of billboards, hoardings, and LED displays even after the tender period had expired.
The investigation revealed that significant amounts of illegal bribes were also being taken to permit the installation of additional billboards beyond the approved number.
After filing the FIR, the CBI set up a trap on the same day. During this operation in New Delhi, the three suspects were apprehended while exchanging the ₹15 lakh bribe.
The arrested individuals include Anil Kumar, also known as Khatri, a senior secretariat assistant from the MCD’s advertising department, Anant Kumar Sharma, director of Naks Creators Private Limited, and Dilip Patel, a representative from the same company.
The CBI reported that a search of the suspects’ premises resulted in the recovery of ₹25.25 lakh in cash. The agency is currently conducting raids at various locations related to the case. The investigation is ongoing, with efforts to uncover the extent of the bribery network and any involvement of other officials or companies.
