
Unnao, August 8: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken significant action by arresting a post office official in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday in connection with a bribery case.
The CBI registered the case on Friday based on a complaint. The complaint stated that the individual had secured a loan of ₹1,000,000 from the Uttar Pradesh Gramin Bank, Bhagwant Nagar, under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) to start a bakery. A subsidy of ₹349,500 had been deposited in the bank for this loan.
It was alleged that the accused office assistant at the Bighapur post office demanded a bribe of ₹35,000 from the complainant in exchange for verifying the loan subsidy unit.
On August 8, the CBI set a trap and caught the accused office assistant red-handed while he was demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹25,000 from the complainant. The accused has been arrested and will be presented in the relevant court in Lucknow.
