Casio G-Shock 5000 Series Unveils Stunning Rainbow Metal Design with Solar and Bluetooth Features

Tokyo, April 5: Casio has launched the G-Shock GMW-BZ5000RC-1 in Japan, introducing a fresh design for its 5000 series. This model had been teased in leaks earlier this year and is now available on the company’s official store for ¥121,000. A broader global release is anticipated, although specific timelines and regional pricing are yet to be announced.

The watch boasts a full-metal design, featuring a stainless steel case, bezel, and band. Its most striking aspect is the center case, which showcases a gradient rainbow ion-plated finish. This vibrant effect extends across the dial and is enhanced by rainbow vapor deposition on the glass. Gold-colored ion-plated screws provide a contrasting touch, while a combination of hairline and mirror finishes across various components accentuates the metal texture.

The design integrates the bezel and center case at both the top and bottom, leaving the center case partially exposed. This structure is supported by a resin internal protector that absorbs shocks by deforming upon impact. A screw-lock case back guarantees a secure seal, upholding G-Shock’s renowned durability. The watch is also water-resistant up to 200 meters.

Casio has utilized artificial intelligence alongside decades of shock-resistance data to refine the design and optimize the component structure. The manufacturing process includes repeated forging, cutting, and polishing to achieve the final product. Production occurs at Yamagata Casio in Japan, the same facility responsible for the original G-Shock.

Equipped with a high-definition MIP LCD featuring a negative display for enhanced clarity, the watch allows users to switch between various time display layouts and select from STANDARD and CLASSIC font styles via a companion app. Bluetooth connectivity facilitates automatic time adjustments, while Multiband 6 radio control ensures precise timekeeping.

Additional features include dual world time, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a countdown timer, and five daily alarms. The Tough Solar system enables continuous operation through light-based charging.
