Mumbai, March 28: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is set to kick off this Saturday, and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has returned to Mumbai. He is expected to be available for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in their match against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday.
According to a report from Cricbuzz, Bumrah arrived at the team hotel on Friday evening. While his participation in the match has not been officially confirmed, sources close to MI indicate that the chances of him playing are quite high.
Bumrah had spent the last five days at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. However, sources have reassured that there is no cause for concern. This was a standard procedure aimed at monitoring his workload. Recently, Bumrah has been bowling at full pace and is fit to lead MI’s bowling attack.
In IPL 2025, the Mumbai Indians managed to win only 8 out of 14 matches. Nonetheless, they secured a playoff spot by finishing fourth in the points table. Given their status as five-time IPL champions, the team aims to secure a top-2 finish this season.
On Friday night, MI players practiced at Wankhede Stadium. Before the match on Sunday, both teams will hold another practice session on Saturday, with all eyes on Jasprit Bumrah.
Following their opening match against KKR on March 29, the Mumbai Indians will face the Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 4 and then take on the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 7. Their fourth match is scheduled against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on April 12.
