Nagpur, July 11: The third BRICS Transport Working Group meeting was successfully chaired by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
During a press interaction, Minister Gadkari expressed his delight at hosting the BRICS conference in Nagpur. He highlighted that BRICS represents 40% of the global population. The meeting focused on achieving carbon neutrality in the transport sector, particularly in road, rail, waterways, and aviation. A resolution was passed to explore the use of biofuels and establish future policies.
Minister Gadkari further stated his gratitude to the ministers and delegations from BRICS nations for their participation in the Nagpur meeting. He extended thanks on behalf of the Indian government for their cooperation.
The meeting was attended by representatives from BRICS member countries, including India, Brazil, Russia, China, and South Africa, as well as some new member nations.
Additionally, on July 9, a BRICS Women Ministers’ meeting was held in Kochi under India’s presidency. This meeting included Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Annapurna Devi, and Minister of State, Savitri Thakur, along with representatives from member countries.
Minister Annapurna Devi noted that after a full day of discussions, a cultural evening was organized to showcase India’s rich heritage and traditions, attended by the Governor. Overall, the meetings were deemed very successful. All BRICS member nations agreed that the vision for development led by women should extend beyond discussions and translate into concrete actions at the grassroots level.
