BRICS Nations Have Unique Opportunity to Boost Manufacturing and Supply Chains: Piyush Goyal

New Delhi, August 6: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal stated on Thursday that BRICS nations have a unique opportunity to enhance manufacturing competitiveness, deepen technical cooperation, develop resilient supply chains, and promote sustainable industrial growth.

Speaking at the BRICS Industry Ministers’ meeting held in Jaipur under India’s BRICS 2026 presidency, Goyal noted that the meeting facilitated extensive discussions on the future of industrial cooperation and economic partnerships among member countries.

“I was pleased to address the BRICS Industry Ministers’ meeting in Jaipur during India’s BRICS 2026 presidency. We deliberated on the future of industrial collaboration and economic participation,” Goyal remarked.

He emphasized that BRICS nations have a significant opportunity to make their manufacturing capabilities more competitive globally. Additionally, member countries can collaborate in areas such as technological innovation, production networks, and industrial development.

During the meeting, India also outlined its key priorities, which include strengthening micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), promoting startup innovation, expanding clean energy cooperation, and developing a technology-driven logistics ecosystem.

Goyal stressed the necessity of enhancing cooperation in these areas to ensure sustainable industrial development and economic growth. He mentioned that India is consistently working on models that integrate innovation, job creation, and green development.

A notable achievement of the meeting was the adoption of a joint declaration. This declaration reaffirmed the member countries’ shared commitment to advancing practical cooperation under the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution.

The Union Minister stated that the joint declaration also expressed a resolve to further enhance mutual cooperation in the fields of industrial innovation, clean energy, logistics, and robust manufacturing mechanisms.

“The adoption of the joint declaration was a significant outcome of this meeting. It reflects our collective commitment to industrial innovation, clean energy, logistics, and a strong manufacturing network,” Goyal added.

He further stated that in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, India is committed to strengthening partnerships with all member countries of the expanded BRICS family. India’s goal is not just to engage in discussions but to transform those discussions into tangible outcomes that accelerate shared prosperity and development among all member nations.

Goyal concluded, “Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance, India is committed to elevating cooperation with BRICS nations to new heights and turning dialogue into concrete results for development and prosperity.”
