Boxing Federation of India Suspends Secretary General Pramod Kumar Over Financial Misconduct

The Boxing Federation of India has suspended Secretary General Pramod Kumar amid allegations of financial misconduct and obstruction of an investigation.

New Delhi, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) has suspended Secretary General Pramod Kumar with immediate effect due to serious allegations against him. The charges include gross misuse of authority, failure to cooperate with an ongoing investigation, and involvement in financial irregularities.

Previously, Kumar had introduced a no-confidence motion against BFI President Ajay Singh, citing a complete breakdown of trust and governance failures. Following this, he accused Colonel Arun Malik, the BFI Chief and Executive Director, of issuing criminal threats to prevent the no-confidence motion from proceeding.

In a letter issued on Tuesday, Kumar was also accused of not cooperating with the investigation into the cancellation of the BFI Elite Men’s and Women’s Open Boxing Championship 2026. This championship was scheduled to take place in Nahan, Himachal Pradesh, from August 16 to August 23.

The letter stated, “It is clear that you are not cooperating in the investigation of a serious matter that could impact BFI’s events and its reputation. Additionally, issuing illegal and malicious notices to intimidate and obstruct an independent inquiry is also included.”

The BFI’s letter confirmed that Kumar is suspended under the applicable provisions of the BFI constitution until the investigation is complete or further orders are issued by the competent authority.

The suspension is temporary and does not imply a final decision on the allegations. It serves as an interim protective measure. The ongoing investigation will follow the established procedures, and the interim suspension will adhere to the safeguards, limitations, and review conditions outlined in the BFI constitution.

During the suspension, Kumar is prohibited from performing any duties, exercising powers, or engaging in any correspondence on behalf of the BFI. He is also barred from interfering with the investigation or attempting to influence any witnesses, officials, or individuals involved.

Kumar is required to fully cooperate with the investigation committee, providing all requested documents, records, explanations, and information related to the inquiry.

The letter warned, “Any violation of this suspension order, obstruction of the investigation, misuse of BFI authority, or interference in its proceedings will be taken seriously and may lead to further disciplinary action under the BFI constitution and applicable rules and regulations.”
