Kolkata, February 14: Panic ensued at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata on Saturday morning after a bomb threat was reported on an IndiGo flight bound for Shillong.

The flight, designated 6E-7304, was scheduled to depart around 9:15 AM. During the boarding process, a crew member discovered a handwritten note in the aircraft’s restroom, indicating the presence of a bomb on board. Upon receiving this alarming information, security agencies immediately went on high alert.

As a precaution, all passengers were swiftly evacuated from the aircraft. The plane was then moved to an isolation bay at the airport, where a thorough inspection was initiated in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP).

According to the airport director, all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of passengers and the aircraft. A security team, along with bomb disposal units, is conducting a detailed search of the plane, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

The situation created a tense atmosphere at the airport for a brief period. However, authorities have assured that they are managing the situation and have urged passengers to remain patient. Officials emphasized that passenger safety is the top priority, and further actions will be determined only after the completion of the investigation.

Currently, the inspection process is ongoing, with relevant agencies meticulously examining every aspect to neutralize any potential threats.

Earlier, on January 30, an IndiGo flight returning from Kuwait to Delhi received a bomb threat, leading to an emergency landing in Ahmedabad. That flight had 186 people on board, including 180 passengers.
