Hyderabad, May 15: A bomb threat caused a stir at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad, Hyderabad. The alert was triggered when an international flight landed at the airport. Upon arrival, the aircraft was directed to an isolation bay for a thorough inspection.
The incident occurred with Lufthansa flight LH 754, which was arriving from Frankfurt, Germany. During the flight, the airline’s customer support received an email claiming that a bomb was on board and would be detonated before reaching Shamshabad. As soon as this threatening email was reported, security agencies sprang into action. All relevant authorities, including Air Traffic Control, CISF, and the airport security unit, were put on high alert.
Fortunately, the flight landed safely at the airport. After landing, the aircraft was taken directly to an isolation bay, where a detailed examination commenced. Passengers were deboarded as per standard security procedures, and all were screened. Initial investigations revealed no suspicious items; however, security agencies remain vigilant and are working to identify the sender of the email and trace its source.
In a separate incident at the same airport, a passenger was apprehended with foreign currency worth approximately ₹11,85,930. The individual, identified as Syed Ismail Ali, was preparing to travel to Bangkok from Shamshabad.
The currency was seized during routine baggage screening by CISF personnel. Upon inspection of the bag, suspicious foreign currency was discovered, leading to the immediate separation of the passenger for questioning. Authorities have confiscated the entire amount and are investigating its origin and the reason for its intended transport to Bangkok.
