Quetta, August 3: The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for killing 97 Pakistani soldiers and five alleged informants during 48 operations in Balochistan last month. This information was reported by local media on Monday.
According to The Balochistan Post, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch stated in their monthly operational report that the organization targeted the Pakistani military, other government security forces, military and economic installations, communication networks, and surveillance structures.
These attacks occurred in various locations, including Kahan, Chagai, Kharan, Kalat, Mastung, Khuzdar, Basima, Mand, Tump, Gomazi, Zhao, Quetta, Zamuran, Surab, Mashkel, Buleda, Karachi, Pasni, Rakhni, Nal, Khudan, Balnegwar, and Mashke. The BLF claims that these operations aim to undermine what they describe as a “colonial structure” imposed by the Pakistani state in Balochistan. The organization also seeks to halt resource exploitation and weaken military control over the region.
Gwahram Baloch referred to the attack on a Pakistani military convoy near the Macro Stop in the Khadkocha area of Mastung on July 22 as the most significant and deadly operation of the month. The group claims that this attack resulted in the deaths of 17 soldiers and injuries to 10 others, along with substantial damage to the military convoy.
The BLF asserts that its fighters established control by blocking nine key highways during July to disrupt military supply lines and strengthen their foothold in the area.
In a statement, the organization claimed to have ambushed seven Pakistani military convoys, causing damage to soldiers and military equipment. The group also reported coordinated attacks on six major military camps and seven checkpoints.
Furthermore, the BLF stated that it destroyed two drones used for aerial surveillance and three ground-based surveillance cameras. According to the organization, their actions and explosions resulted in the destruction of 15 military vehicles, and they seized five modern weapons from Pakistani security forces.
The statement indicated that the attacks in July employed various guerrilla strategies, including 16 heavy weapon assaults, eight ambushes, five covert operations based on intelligence, four sniper attacks, two grenade launcher assaults, two IED attacks, and one hand grenade attack.
This announcement from the Baloch armed organization comes at a time when attacks targeting security forces in Pakistan are on the rise, particularly in border provinces like Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
