BJP Questions Achievements of Keralas Satheeshan Government After 100 Days in Power

Thiruvananthapuram, August 24: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a strong political attack on the VD Satheeshan government in Kerala, marking the completion of its first 100 days in office. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the party’s state president and legislator, accused the government of failing to fulfill electoral promises, increasing the state’s debt burden, and resorting to communal politics to divert attention from its shortcomings.

Chandrasekhar, one of the three BJP legislators in the Kerala Assembly, stated that this period is the right time to assess the government’s electoral commitments. He remarked, “Kerala has only faced disappointment.”

He claimed that the government had promised five guarantees to the public, but only one has been fulfilled. He questioned, “What happened to the other guarantees?” and demanded clarification on the promises that brought the government to power.

The BJP leader also criticized the Congress government’s failure to take action against corruption during the previous CPI(M) administration. He alleged that those who pledged strict action have yet to take any concrete steps.

Chandrasekhar raised concerns about the government’s economic performance, alleging that it has increased the state’s debt by ₹12,500 crores while failing to attract new investments or create significant job opportunities.

His sharpest criticism was directed at the government’s promise of a non-communal administration. He accused the Chief Minister of engaging in communal politics, working on issues raised by the Indian Union Muslim League and Jamaat-e-Islami.

Chandrasekhar also attacked the government over the proposed division of the Palakkad railway division, alleging that it is presenting this issue as a major achievement while misleading the public. He asserted that the BJP stands firmly for the expansion of railway infrastructure in Kerala and will not compromise the state’s interests.

He demanded that any decisions regarding administrative reorganization, including the proposed division of districts in Kerala, should involve thorough discussions.

The BJP state president called for a CBI investigation into irregularities related to football star Lionel Messi’s proposed visit, arguing that this matter should not be left to the state’s vigilance department. He claimed that promises made in the sports sector are also turning into fraud and that the government is using controversies to distract the public from its failures.
