Lea Michele is reportedly in talks to return to her role as Rachel Berry in the upcoming reboot of ‘Glee,’ which will air on Disney+ and Hulu. This news follows the recent announcement of the series order, confirmed by various sources.

Ryan Murphy, co-creator of the original series, has stated that he has been in contact with approximately ten original cast members. While no official casting has been announced yet, Michele’s involvement seems promising. One source commented, “She’s in,” while another noted, “we’re happy to get the band back together.”

The original ‘Glee’ aired on Fox from 2009 to 2015, focusing on the lives of New Directions, a high school glee club in Ohio. The show often tackled social issues and was known for its musical performances. Michele’s character, Rachel Berry, was a driven and ambitious performer, whose journey often revealed the complexities of her personal relationships.

Other original cast members, including Heather Morris, who portrayed Brittany, and Chord Overstreet, who played Sam, have hinted at their interest in returning. Michele recently expressed her enthusiasm for the reboot, stating, “I love ‘Glee.’ I will always love ‘Glee.'” Murphy also mentioned that the original cast members had positive reactions when he discussed the idea with them.

While Michele is enthusiastic, the cast’s return is bittersweet due to the loss of several original members, including Cory Monteith and Naya Rivera. Chris Colfer, who played Kurt Hummel, acknowledged the challenges of continuing the series without Rivera, saying it would be tough but also noting the persistent demand from fans.

The reboot has sparked a mix of excitement and skepticism among fans. Some have raised concerns about the show’s potential use of artificial intelligence to incorporate deceased cast members into the storyline, which has drawn criticism among fans and original cast members alike. Ryan Murphy has acknowledged these sensitivities and has yet to confirm any specific plans regarding the cast’s return.

As discussions continue, Michele remains focused on her recent success in Broadway’s revival of ‘Funny Girl,’ which parallels her character’s aspirations from ‘Glee.’ The show’s revival marks a nostalgic return to the stories and characters that resonated with audiences during its original run.
