Ranchi, August 1: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a movement against alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations in Jharkhand. On Friday evening, party leaders and activists held torchlight rallies in several cities and districts, including Ranchi and Jamshedpur. The party plans to stage protests led by its youth wing across all districts on August 1.
During the rallies, BJP workers chanted slogans demanding justice for students and youth, highlighting the alleged discrepancies in the recruitment exams. Party leaders stated that the aim of the movement is to ensure transparency in the recruitment process and to call for a fair investigation into the alleged irregularities.
Earlier on Friday afternoon, Amar Kumar Bauri, the state BJP general secretary, addressed a press conference at the party’s state office. He emphasized that the party stands firmly with students and youth in their fight for justice. Bauri demanded the cancellation of the controversial exams, a CBI investigation into all recruitment exams conducted in the past six years, and a fast-track court inquiry to ensure that those responsible are imprisoned.
He also urged the Congress to withdraw its support from the Jharkhand government immediately and called for Chief Minister Hemant Soren to resign on moral grounds. Bauri accused state government agencies of acting as a “cover fire” to protect the actual culprits. He dismissed the CID and ACB investigations as mere “eyewash,” asserting that the government is attempting to divert the investigation in other directions.
The BJP has been consistently protesting against alleged irregularities in the 14th JPSC exam. On July 22, the party surrounded the JPSC office, which led to the initiation of a CID investigation. This was followed by raids, arrests, and the resignation of the commission’s chairman. However, the BJP believes that these actions are insufficient and that a CBI investigation into the entire matter is essential.
Bauri pointed out that allegations of irregularities have emerged in several recruitment exams, including JPSC, JSSC CGL, product constable, and junior engineer positions. He noted that these incidents have heightened anger among the youth. The BJP is raising this issue from the streets to Parliament. On July 29, BJP MPs from Jharkhand protested in the Parliament complex, and on July 31, they held a silent protest. Bauri stated that the BJP’s movement will continue until a fair investigation into the alleged irregularities in recruitment exams is conducted and action is taken against the guilty.
