Delhis LG T.S. Sandhu met PM Modi to discuss development plans, focusing on education and healthcare improvements in the capital.

New Delhi, October 15 (Daily Kiran) : T.S. Sandhu, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday to discuss various development projects in the national capital. The meeting took place in New Delhi, where Sandhu provided updates on initiatives aimed at enhancing infrastructure in education and healthcare.
The Prime Minister’s Office shared details of the meeting on social media platform X, stating, “Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Tarunjeet Singh Sandhu met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
In a bid to transform Delhi into a prominent hub for education and healthcare, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has organized stakeholder consultations as part of the “Master Plan for Delhi-2047” (MPD-2047), under Sandhu’s direction. These consultations aim to engage various stakeholders in discussions about the future development of the capital.
Sandhu has consistently emphasized the need for adequate, affordable, and accessible healthcare and educational infrastructure in the city. A statement from the DDA indicated that the recent consultations focused on key provisions of MPD-2047 related to the establishment of educational and medical centers.
The first of these meetings concentrated on educational development, bringing together representatives from the Delhi government’s education department, schools, private universities, and other educational institutions. During the discussions, the DDA outlined plans to position Delhi as a center for knowledge and innovation. A major initiative includes the development of a 138-hectare educational center in Narela, which will support universities, research institutions, vocational training, and startups, fostering a knowledge-based economy and skilled employment.
Additionally, the plan aims to increase the Floor Area Ratio (FAR) for schools, allowing them to develop infrastructure for additional activities in line with the National Education Policy. It also includes provisions for creating separate schools and training facilities for children with disabilities, as well as developing residential schools.
The second consultation focused on the development of medical centers, with participation from representatives of healthcare institutions and health departments from both the central and Delhi governments. The DDA presented provisions aimed at strengthening Delhi’s healthcare ecosystem through a unified network of hospitals, medical colleges, specialized health facilities, and wellness centers. Moreover, the plan seeks to enhance Delhi’s role as a national healthcare hub and a center for medical tourism through the establishment of world-class tertiary and super-specialty healthcare facilities.
