Sachin Pilot to Visit Punjab, Engage with Families Affected by Gang Violence

Congress leader Sachin Pilot will meet families impacted by gang violence during his five-day Punjab tour starting October 16.

Chandigarh, October 15 (Daily Kiran) : Congress leader Sachin Pilot, the AICC General Secretary and in charge of Punjab, is set to embark on a five-day tour of the state beginning October 16. His visit aims to connect with families who have suffered due to gang violence and deteriorating law and order in the region.

Pilot’s itinerary includes visits to several districts, including Moga, Bathinda, Mansa, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, and Amritsar. Throughout his tour, he plans to visit the homes of affected families, express his condolences, and listen to their experiences regarding the crimes they have endured. Additionally, he will inquire about the responses they have received from the police and the state government.

Many of these violent incidents have been linked to organized gangs, with families often waiting months or even years for arrests, charge sheets, or fair hearings. The primary goal of Pilot’s visit is to amplify the voices of these families seeking justice.

The Congress party intends to bring their demands for justice to the forefront, addressing them publicly, with the state government, and in courts if necessary. Pilot will also raise concerns about the worsening law and order situation in Punjab, which he argues undermines the moral authority of the current Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

On October 11, the newly appointed president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC), Pargat Singh, took office in Chandigarh. During his address, he pledged to fight for the rights, dignity, and better future of the state’s residents.

Singh emphasized that the true strength of Punjab lies in its common citizens—farmers who feed the nation, youth striving for a better future, and entrepreneurs contributing to the economy. He reiterated that the Congress party’s responsibility extends beyond elections; it is about being the voice of the people and standing firm for their rights.

He stated, “The people of Punjab are waiting for their rights, justice, and a secure future. It is our duty to fulfill the hopes of every segment of society, from farmers to youth. The Congress is united, and our fight is against the system that has failed to secure people’s rights.”
