BJD Stands Firm on Womens Empowerment: Manas Mangaraj

New Delhi, April 18: Following the failure of the Women’s Reservation Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Manas Mangaraj asserted that the party has always been a staunch advocate for women’s empowerment and was one of the strongest supporters of this bill. He emphasized that their commitment to increasing women’s representation in the legislature has never wavered.

In a post on social media platform X, Mangaraj stated that under the leadership of Naveen Patnaik, they opposed a hasty attempt to pass a delimitation bill disguised as a women’s law. This move threatened to deprive Odisha and several other states of their rightful share. He declared that this conspiracy has now failed.

Mangaraj made it clear that the Women’s Reservation Bill was passed in 2023 and notified in 2026. If the government is genuinely committed to women’s reservation, it can implement the 33% quota within the existing 543 Lok Sabha seats without delay. He concluded by stating that falsehood has lost, and truth has triumphed.

BJP leader Amar Patnaik also took to social media, stating that while “Satyamev Jayate” (Truth Alone Triumphs) is a motto, the truth has exposed BJD’s blatant lies and anti-women agenda. He remarked that the celebration of today was not a victory for Odisha but a disgraceful betrayal of the daughters of India. The delimitation bill is the bridge through which the historic Women’s Reservation Act passed by the NDA government will finally be implemented. By vehemently opposing it, BJD has undeniably proven itself to be anti-women, anti-empowerment, and against the future of half of Odisha’s population.

Patnaik noted that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ensured 33% reservation for women in Parliament and Assemblies, BJD chose to weaken women by obstructing the delimitation that would make this reservation a reality. He asserted that the 20 BJP MPs from Odisha stand with the nation, women, and constitutional justice. Delimitation does not deprive Odisha of anything; rather, it ensures that every vote counts equally in a growing India. He urged BJD to stop misleading the people of Odisha with their poor propaganda.
