Mumbai, October 12 (Daily Kiran) : Actress Bipasha Basu is set to make her comeback to the screen after a six-year hiatus with the web series ‘Barabanki.’ Filming for the series has already commenced.
Directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Hansal Mehta, the series is produced by Prabhleen Sandhu under the banner of Almaty Motion Pictures. It features a strong cast, including Sunny Kaushal and Vishal Jethwa alongside Basu.
The storyline is adapted from the book ‘The Barabanki Narcos: Busting India’s Most Notorious Drug Cartel,’ written by former IPS officer Alok Lal. Set against the backdrop of 1984, the narrative revolves around a vast opium and drug trafficking network in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, and the police operation aimed at dismantling it. In this series, Basu will showcase a completely different and unique look.
Bipasha’s last appearance was in the 2020 web series ‘Dangerous,’ where she starred alongside her husband Karan Singh Grover. Directed by Bhushan Patel, the series follows a young businessman, Aditya Dhanraj (played by Grover), whose wife, Diya (Sonali Raut), mysteriously disappears. As Aditya seeks help from the police, he discovers that the investigating officer, Neha Singh (Bipasha Basu), is his ex-girlfriend. The case evolves from a simple missing person investigation into a complex web of kidnapping, ransom, and hidden rivalries.
