Bihar Police Encounter Claims Life of Officer, Two Criminals Killed

Mumbai, March 17: In a significant operation, Bihar Police has intensified its actions against criminals. Recently, in an encounter in the East Champaran district, police shot dead two wanted criminals. Tragically, one police officer also lost his life in the incident.

According to police reports, the encounter took place in Ramdiha village under the Chakia police station. The deceased criminals have been identified as Kundan Thakur and Priyanshu Dubey.

A police official stated that they received a tip-off about Kundan Thakur hiding at a friend’s house with members of his gang, armed with weapons. Upon reaching the location, the criminals opened fire on the police.

During this exchange, a constable was critically injured and was rushed to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. In response, the police returned fire, resulting in injuries to Kundan Thakur and his accomplice Priyanshu Kumar from Muzaffarpur. Both were also transported to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

From the scene, police arrested Ujjwal Kumar and Sant Kumar Tiwari. A significant cache of weapons was also recovered, including a carbine, two pistols, two country-made guns, five live cartridges, and 17 spent shells.

Officials revealed that Kundan Thakur had a criminal history, with multiple cases registered against him in Chakia, Rajepur, and Nagar police stations. Just a day prior, Gaurav Kumar, the Assistant Station Officer of Chakia, received a threatening call from a Nepalese number, where the caller identified himself as Kundan Thakur.
