Patna, March 26: In a significant anti-corruption operation, the Vigilance Investigation Bureau in Bihar arrested a data entry operator and his associate for accepting a bribe of ₹50,000 in Hajipur, Vaishali district. The bribe was solicited in exchange for issuing a license for a gravel shop.
An official from the Vigilance Bureau reported that a complaint was filed by Jimdar Kumar, a resident of the Bidupur police station area in Vaishali, at the Patna bureau headquarters. He alleged that Rahul Kumar Roshhan, a data operator in the mining department, was demanding a bribe for the license. Upon investigation, evidence supporting the bribery claim was found.
After confirming the allegations, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed, and a team was formed under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police Sadanand Kumar.
The Vigilance Bureau acted swiftly. As soon as the data operator and his associate, Pramod Kumar, accepted the bribe, the team, which had set a trap, caught them red-handed. The operation took place at the district mining department office, and the full amount of the bribe was recovered from the accused.
The official stated that the arrested individuals would be presented in court following further questioning. The bureau has been actively campaigning against corruption and bribery. This incident marks the 36th FIR registered by the Vigilance Investigation Bureau this year, with 28 cases related to traps. So far, 25 individuals have been caught accepting bribes.
