Bhupender Yadav Calls for Strict Action Against Polluting Industries in NCR

New Delhi, September 3 (Daily Kiran) : Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav emphasized a strict “zero-tolerance” policy towards industries violating pollution regulations in the National Capital Region (NCR). Speaking on September 3, Yadav highlighted the need for rigorous action against polluting entities that fail to comply with environmental standards.

In a government statement, Yadav reviewed comprehensive plans submitted by NCR states, focusing on engaging all stakeholders and promoting behavior change to tackle air pollution effectively. He underscored the importance of holding violators accountable and stressed that state pollution control boards should address identified pollution hotspots with practical and effective action plans.

During discussions with state governments, Yadav reiterated that coordinated efforts among all stakeholders are essential for enhancing the effectiveness of air pollution mitigation strategies. He reviewed various information, education, and communication (IEC) activities proposed by different states, advocating for a unified approach to improve outreach and impact.

Over the past year, Yadav has conducted more than 25 meetings to assess the actions taken by municipal bodies in the NCR to achieve air quality management goals. These meetings have led to the development of clear action plans across various states, including ground activities aimed at addressing identified sources of air pollution.

Welcoming the detailed action plans prepared by NCR state governments to ensure citizen participation in combating air pollution, Yadav highlighted specific initiatives by states and urged others to adopt and implement best practices.

He stressed that IEC activities alone are insufficient and that effective implementation and adherence to regulations remain crucial in the fight against air pollution. Yadav announced that a review meeting at the ministerial level will be held in September to assess the progress of initiatives and actions taken by the states.

The minister assured NCR state governments of the central government’s full support in their efforts for air quality management.
