Madrid, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : Joan Garcia, the goalkeeper for Barcelona, has been ruled out of the upcoming La Liga match against Sevilla due to a minor knee injury. The injury occurred during Wednesday’s match, where Barcelona secured a dominant 7-2 victory over Racing Santander. Although Garcia started the game, he felt discomfort in his right knee at the beginning of the second half and was replaced by Wojciech Szczęsny.
Medical tests later confirmed that the injury was not serious, but Barcelona announced that the 24-year-old will not be available for the upcoming matches. His return will depend on the recovery process. In an official statement, the club noted, “First-team player Joan Garcia is experiencing mild discomfort in his right knee. His return will be determined after his recovery.”
Garcia has been a key player for Barcelona since joining the team and was selected for Spain’s national squad by coach Luis de la Fuente for the upcoming international window. His absence now requires adjustments to Spain’s goalkeeping options. De la Fuente has called up Josep Martinez to replace Garcia.
