Badrinath-Kedarnath Bars Non-Hindus; Saints Welcome Move

The decision to restrict entry of non-Hindus in the sacred temples of Badrinath and Kedarnath has drawn positive reactions from saints and religious leaders across the country. They believe this step will help preserve the sanctity of these revered pilgrimage sites.

According to members of the saint community, non-Hindus have, in the past, been responsible for disrupting the purity of temples. The Shri Badri-Kedar Temple Committee (BKTC) has officially announced the ban on non-Hindu visitors at these temples.

Keshav Swaroop Brahmachari, General Secretary of the All India Saints Committee in Rishikesh, told news agencies that the BKTC’s decision is commendable as it safeguards the holiness of the temples. He emphasized that non-Hindus who previously visited these sites often compromised their sanctity.

He further expressed a desire that similar restrictions be implemented across all Hindu-Sanatani temples in India to maintain their sacred nature.

Muni Abhay Chaitanya Maharaj welcomed the decision and extended sincere thanks to the Uttarakhand government. He noted that non-Hindus have historically disturbed temple sanctity and hoped that this move would inspire other temple committees to take similar steps.

Mahant Sitaram Dasi of Saket Bhavan Temple also praised the ban, calling it a positive development. He urged all Hindus to support such measures nationwide, especially when there are attempts by extremist elements to weaken Sanatan Dharma. He advocated for a complete ban on non-Hindu entry in all pilgrimage and religious towns across India.

Narayanacharya Shandilya Maharaj stated that a full ban on Muslims at Hindu holy sites has been decided, a demand they have been advocating for nearly three years. He added that just as restrictions exist in other areas, similar measures should be enforced in the Sangam region.

This unanimous support from prominent saints highlights the importance they place on preserving religious sanctity and cultural identity at India’s sacred sites.
